1 RULES
1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply.
2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 The sailing instructions will be available at the registration table after 9am on February 11th, 2023.
2.2 The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located on the side of the gear shed
3 COMMUNICATION
3.1 The online official notice board is located at https://sailraglan.org/regatta/
3.2 All safety boats shall carry a VHF radio capable of communicating on channel 77.
4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 The event is open to all boats of the centreboard class(es), including but not limited to Lasers (Full, Radial, and 4.7), 420s, Open Skiffs, Starlings, P Class, Optimists, Quests.
4.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form and submitting it online here: https://forms.gle/8aQJ4L3EKDQZSyir6 by February 7th.
4.5 Boats may pay by internet banking, or cash on the day. Club bank details can be found on the registration form
4.8 To be eligible to compete in this event each [competitor][entrant and crew member(s)] shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the [competitor’s][entrant’s and crew member(s)’] national authority.
5 FEES
5.1 Entry fees are as follows:

9 SCHEDULE
9.1 Registration:

9.3 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 4pm.
12 VENUE
12.1 The event venue will be the Raglan Sailing Club, at 95 Lorenzen Bay Rd. Boats may be stored at the venue overnight at sailor’s own risk. Please be advised that the club is on private property that is owned by the club commodore. Please be respectful of this.
12.2 The racing area will be in the Raglan Harbour, just outside of Lorenzen Bay.
13 COURSES AND FLEETS
13.1 The course(s) to be sailed will be advised in the sailing instructions.
13.2 At least two fleets will be sailed:
- Optimist, P class, Open Skiff and Starlings
- All other classes
Additional fleets may be added for any one design class with 6 or more entries, but this will be at the race committee’s discretion and advised at the briefing on 11th February.
For mixed fleets, results will be decided using the Portsmouth Yardstick handicap system.
14 PENALTY SYSTEM
14.2 RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
22 RISK STATEMENT
22.1 RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes.
23 INSURANCE
23.1 Each participating boat is recommended be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
